USPRO to return to Greenville Sept. 18-19, 2010

The Greenville Hospital System USA Cycling Professional Championships will return to Greenville, S.C. for a fifth consecutive year in 2010, with new dates set for September 18-19, 2010. The Championship weekend features the USA Cycling Professional Time Trial Championship on Saturday and the USA Cycling Professional Road Race Championship on Sunday.

USA Cycling offers condolences to family of Terry McGinnis

USA Cycling would like to express its sincerest condolences to the friends and family of Terry McGinnis. The executive director of the Tour of Utah, McGinnis passed away on Saturday after a prolonged battle with cancer.

Half-way through ‘Cross season, Powers and Bruno-Roy lead calendar

Last weekend marked the midway point of the 2009/2010 USA Cycling Cyclo-cross National Racing Calendar as racers contested two days each of the USGP of Cyclocross Derby City Cup in Louisville, Ken. and the Downeast Cyclocross in New Gloucester, Maine. Halfway through the season, Jeremy Powers and Maureen Bruno Roy lead the elite men’s and women’s standings with 234 and 165 points.

Preliminary call-up lists for ‘Cross Nationals available online

USA Cycling is on target to host a record number of participants at this year’s USA Cycling Cyclo-cross National Championships in Bend, Ore. We are extremely excited about the growth of cyclo-cross racing in America, but this phenomenal interest did cause issues during the initial on-line registration period. We would again like to offer our sincere apologies to anyone who experienced difficulties registering for the event between midnight and approximately 2:00 a.m. EDT on Oct. 10.

DEVELOPMENT WRAP-UP: Americans strong on the track in Amsterdam

American track cycling was well-represented overseas last week as Iggy Silva, Ian Moir, Dean Tracy, and Cari Higgins contested the Amsterdam Six-Day. Silva and Moir placed sixth out of twelve in the UCI Talents Cup while Tracy and Frenchman Gregory Bauge won the team sprint on night four. Higgins and Dutch partner Eva Heijmans won the Madison on day five and placed third overall in the general classification.

U.S. picks up 27 medals at Masters Track Worlds

U.S. riders picked up 27 medals at the 2009 UCI Masters Track World Championships last week. The event, held in Sydney, Australia from Oct. 19-24, featured cyclists age 30 and above battling it out for world titles in the time trial, individual pursuit, scratch race, team time trial, sprint, and points race events.

Registration closing soon for Bill Woodul Race Mechanic Clinic

Registration is closing soon for the 2009 USA Cycling Bill Woodul Race Mechanic Clinic. Slated for December 10-13, 2009 at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, the clinic is open to U.S. residents and USA Cycling license holders who have at least two years of bicycle mechanic experience and wish to become USA Cycling-licensed mechanics.

Races Sought For 2010 Nature Valley Pro Ride Calendar

Development Wrap-Up: Track programs warm-up at home and abroad

Eleven riders participated in USA Cycling track program events last week both at the Home Depot Center Velodrome in California and overseas. Iggy Silva and Julian Kyer finished sixth in their first European Madison as a team while 11 riders geared up for the upcoming season at the Home Depot Center Velodrome.

Fort Lewis, Brevard clinch omniums at Collegiate MTB Nationals

Fort Lewis College and Brevard College clinched the Divisions I and II team omniums as the 2009 USA Cycling Collegiate Mountain Bike National Championships came to a close on Sunday. Both teams had commanding leads going into the final day of racing - leads which were strengthened even more with some very solid efforts in the downhill finales.
