USA Cycling has recognized four outstanding student-athletes; two as recipients of the annual John Stenner Collegiate Cycling Scholarship and two as winners of the Joshua Kuck Memorial Scholarship Fund. Winners of the Stenner Scholarship, Kay Sherwood of Colorado College and Nicholas Reinert of University of Pittsburgh were each granted scholarships based on academic achievements, athletic accomplishments and service to the community with an emphasis on collegiate team involvement and leadership. The 2009 Kuck Memorial Scholarship will be awarded to Union Collegeandrsquo;s Rachel Millsop and Oscar Clark of Georgia State University.
USA Cycling has announced the 11 squads that have been registered as UCI Continental teams in the United States for the 2010 racing season, as well as their respective rosters. Along with the previously announced UCI Pro Continental squad (BMC Racing) and UCI Pro Tour teams (Garmin-Slipstream, Team Columbia-HTC and Team RadioShack), the U.S. will feature 15 professional cycling teams recognized by the sportandrsquo;s international governing body for the 2010 racing season.
All athletes with a valid Track category 1, 2, or 3 license are invited to participate in a mass start time standard test on January 9, 2010 at the Home Depot Center Velodrome in Carson, Calif. A mass start time standard test is an opportunity for an athlete to officially achieve a time standard which is one avenue to attain eligibility for consideration to attend the 2010 UCI Track World Championships.
The second USA Cycling Intense BMX Junior Development Program (JDP) Camp of the 2009/2010 season took place last week. With 22 participatns, it was the largest JDP camp so far. USA Cycling development efforts also paid off overseas last week as Danny Heeley and Ian Moir placed fourth in the UIV Talent Cup at the Zurich 6-Day.

It was another extraordinary year for American cycling as membership in USA Cycling increased more than 6.0% compared to 2008, marking our seventh consecutive year of growth. Additionally, our number of affiliated clubs increased by nearly 10% while our number of competitive event sanctions increased by nearly 4%. Overall, in 2009, USA Cycling grew to just over 66,800 licensees who belonged to more than 2,250 clubs and participated in 2,640 sanctioned events. Thank you for helping sustain this amazing decade of growth in American cycling!
USA Cycling announced today the recipients of its annual Club of the Year awards. The overall awards in Divisions I, II, and III went to the Century Road Club Association, Cross Creek Cycling Club, and CycleLife powered by Specialized. USA Cycling also recognized six other clubs with Club of the Year designations in specific categories. These clubs include Active Knowledge, Marian University, Hammer Racing Team, Thumbprint Racing, Sound Velo Cycling Club, and Red Zone Cycling.
The United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) announced today that David Mock of Bluemont, Virginia, an athlete in the sport of cycling, has tested positive for a prohibited substance and accepted a suspension for his doping offense.

USA Cycling is pleased to congratulate the 49 graduates of the 2009 Bill Woodul Mechanics Clinic which took place at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Dec. 9-13. Mechanics came from around the country to take part in the clinic which covered everything from wheel changes to bicycle design fundamentals, and from team mechanic responsibilities to tubular tire fundamentals. Three days of the seminar gave students the opportunity to learn from industry experts and receive hands-on experience.
The U.S. contingent earned two medals at the third round of the UCI Track World Cup in Cali, Colombia, Dec. 10-12. Sarah Hammer took gold in the individual pursuit and later teamed up with Dotsie Bausch and Lauren Tamayo for a silver medal effort in the women’s team pursuit. Additionally, USA Cycling is currently holding its second BMX Junior Development Program Camp of the season at the Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, Calif.
More than 5,000 fans watched Tim Johnson upset hometown favorite and reigning national champion Ryan Trebon to win the USA Cycling Cyclo-cross National Championships elite menandrsquo;s national title. The number one ranked cyclo-cross rider in the world Katie Compton reeled in her sixth consecutive cyclo-cross crown in the elite womenandrsquo;s race. Four Collegiate national titles were also awarded on the final day of competition at the USA Cycling Cyclo-cross National Championships in Bend on Sunday.
