The 2010 UCI Cyclo-cross World Championships kicked off on Saturday in Tabor, Czech Republic with the U23 and Junior men duking it out on a course that was frozen from the region’s heavy snowfall in recent weeks. In the junior race, Cody Kaiser was the first to cross the line for the U.S. National Team, in 33rd place, while Zach McDonald was the first across for the U23 squad in 28th.
USA Cycling is honored to announce that Louisville, Kentucky today was chosen by the Union Cycliste Internationale, cycling’s international governing body, to host the 2013 Elite Cyclo-cross World Championships and the 2012 and 2013 Masters Cyclo-cross World Championships. This historic appointment is the first time the Cyclo-cross World Championships will be held outside of Europe in the 50 plus year history of the championships. These events will mark the first Elite Cycling World Championship of any discipline held on U.S. soil since the Track World Championships took place in Los Angeles in 2005.

USA Cycling announced today the hiring of Management Cycling Prof, S.L. to manage the organization’s Women’s Endurance Program. Led by Director Sportif Manel Lacambra, the Spanish-based company will direct the national governing body’s women’s development efforts from the USA Cycling European Residence Center in Lucca, Italy.

On January 23, masters ‘cross enthusiasts converged on Mol, Belgium to duke it out in the first world championship event of the 2010 season - the UCI Masters Cyclo-cross World Championships. U.S. riders grabbed six top-10 finishes in Mol, four of which were podium places.
USA Cycling recently recognized five programs with $20,000 worth of cash grants through the USA Cycling Development Foundation Centers of Excellence program. With winners chosen based on organizational criteria and performance results in developing junior and U23 cycling athletes, the new womenandrsquo;s professional squad, Peanut Butter andamp; Co. TWENTY 12, received top honors.
American athletes contested both the track and cyclo-cross World Cup finales over the weekend. On the track, Cody O’Reilly was the top American while Jonathan Page turned in the top finish at the cyclo-cross event. USA Cycling announced its 2010 regional development camps schedule and 20 Americans are preparing for the Cyclo-cross World Championships next weekend.
USA Cycling announced today the dates and venues for its 2010 American Mountain Bike Challenge (AMBC). All AMBC events will serve as qualifiers for the USA Cycling Mountain Bike National Championships which are slated for July 15-18 in Granby, Colo. Entering its 14th year in 2010, the 21-race AMBC series will visit 16 states over a period of seven months.

USA Cycling announced today the dates and venues for the 21 events that will comprise the USA Cycling Mountain Bike National Calendars. In their fourth year, the three calendars will provide professional and elite-level athletes with top-quality racing opportunities across all disciplines of mountain biking: cross country, gravity, and ultra-endurance.
The U.S. Olympic Committee announced track cyclist Sarah Hammer and biathlete Tim Burke as its December Athletes of the Month, while ice dancers Meryl Davis and Charlie White were awarded Team of the Month honors. Hammer not only collected gold and silver medals at the UCI Track Cycling World Cup in Cali, Columbia, in December, but the two-time World champion clocked the third- fastest women’s time in history in the three-kilometer individual pursuit. The Olympian made her return to the highest level of competition by taking the individual pursuit gold in the UCI Track Cycling World Cup’s third round before taking the silver medal in the team pursuit.
USA Cycling is pleased to announce the dates and venues for its 2010 Regional Road, Track, and Mountain Bike Development Camps. Open to all athletes between the ages of 14 and 22, the regional camps provide aspiring young riders with opportunities to develop their skills while learning from some of the top coaches in the nation. Camp discussion cover topics ranging from event preparation to becoming a healthier cyclist.
