The second best thing you do after riding your basic bicycle home is to get it insured! OK! Prehaps you should take a picture of it and then then get it insured.
If you ride a basic bicycle, lets hope that you have no free hands to play with the gadgets or have your ears plugged with an mp3 player!
Accidents, are happening around us a lot. Even though we drive our vehicles as carefully as possible but it is always the other drivers that we have to worry about - right?
How can we cope with the potential of an accident? Being aware of everything around ue when we ride or drive and not getting distracted by cell phones, dvd players, gps systems etc. Of course its easy for me to say all of this, but you know that what I'm writing about is very often true.
Get rid of the distraction and concentrate more on riding or driving, and then you will be able to deal more speedily with the other driver's bad driving.

It slows traffic and creates animosity. This bike-box is encountered pretty much every day I ride home, yet constantly cars will wait in it, or will turn right on the red, potentially causing the right-hooks it was designed to prevent. A sign clearly shows no right turn on red light, and to stop at the line before it. Today it was actually respected! Bravo!

If you close one eye during exposure to brighter light, the Rhodopsin in that eye is not bleached and you maintain a higher level of visual purple opposed to the eye that saw bright light. You can switch to your closed-eye when the low-light conditions return. :)
